I came across a statistic another day that shocked me: only about 10% of U.S. citizens have a passport. While I understand that Americans can be criticized for ignorance about the relaxation from the globe, I didn’t recognize just how small we get out and about!I understand of really few things that can offer the genuine education and adventure that comes with international travel: the fascinating views, the unfamiliar smells, the undecipherable languages, the unidentifiable foods, the interesting individuals. It is almost a cliche to say that journey broadens one’s horizons, but sometimes cliches are as true as they’re literal. Myopic, insular, narrow views can’t but be blasted by the wide vistas of the rest of the globe “out there.”I will not attempt and convince you, however, to dust away the suitcases and buy a ticket to somewhere. Instead, I would prefer to present to you my random list of things to understand to ensure that your international travel is the best it may be. It’s my hope that in doing so I will tear down whatsoever walls of concern or inertia happen to be holding you back from experiencing more from the globe.
