Camping is a great way to get away from your daily routines of work or school, eat, sleep. It offers the perfect opportunity to be surrounded by nature, something that most people cannot or do not do on a day-to-day basis.
How to choose the perfect camping location?
Before you can pick an actual camping site, you first have to do research on campgrounds that fit your needs. Luckily, the World Wide Web has turned this task into a simple process, since most campgrounds have an Internet presence. You can make an educated decision about your campground as most websites allow a virtual tour or at least have pictures of their campsites.
Just remember that much like the pictures in a restaurant’s menu card, the campsites will always look nicer on “film” than they are when you see them in person.
The first step in choosing your campsite is to decide on the type of camping you want to do. A few campgrounds still offer what is known as “primitive camping.” Do you know what that means?
When you visit a campground that’s labeled primitive, it’s critical to pack all of your essential supplies. Prepare to bring everything from toilet paper to a first aid kit and from shelter to lots of water. Most campgrounds fall somewhere in between these two extremes. Camping in private parks usually includes all the amenities you could possibly desire. Lots of sites encourage long-term stay by providing conveniences such as laundry, stores, and even arcades! The majority of private parks also offer bingo and other organized activities such as child-friendly games or competitions.
Campground fees
Fees at private parks are generally higher than those of public campgrounds. State park campgrounds can have any level of amenities, from primitive tent campgrounds to near-luxury resorts. A lot have modern amenities such as electricity, showers, working toilets, swimming pools, tours with guides and playgrounds for children.
State and national forest parks are normally fairly basic. Most of these will have pit toilets, picnic areas and fire rings. The good news is that these campgrounds are very affordable as they may be free or only cost a few dollars per day.
Make your campground reservations early during good weather.
Note that during nice weather people tend to settle in early. In order to snag the best location, you must arrive early and have a bit of luck.
Would you want a location by the swimming pool and children’s playground? The children will find this quite convenient, but you may find yourself dealing with excess noise and too much foot traffic. This is also the case with sites in close proximity to bathrooms and showers. Expect to have a constant stream of pedestrians outside your tent.
