Airport parking varies a lot around the world but in some crowded countries airport parking can be a very expensive option unless you are prepared to park some way from the airport.
The ease of parking at airports will often relate to the cost with easier parking being more expensive. The cost of parking next to the airport is usually higher but if your employer is paying you may not be concerned. If you are less well off you may choose to save money by parking at a distance from the main airport terminal to reduce the cost of parking your car at the airport.
The law of supply and demand applies to airport parking as much as anything else. The airport or the car parking contractor will often charge as much as they can get away with. The has been a huge growth in air travel over recent years and demand for car parking at airports has grown too.
The limited availability of airport parking has allowed companies to charge more for airport parking. Demand from airline passengers has been strong regardless of the additional costs involved in additional travel expenses.
All airline passengers have to find their own way to the airport and public transport links may be the least expensive option car travel is often the easiest. Airports usually have good transport connections but not always ones that suit the passengers from further distances.
Many airports offer airport car parking alternatives and are served by train connections with the trains arriving almost inside the airport terminal but that only helps if you can easily get to a train station on the right line for the airport. Some travellers are happy to use buses and coaches to get to the airport but if you are travelling with luggage it can be very difficult.
The problems with buses and trains are all about convenience. The service they offer will decide when you travel and how long that will take rather than you choosing yourself. Using your car is certainly the most convenient way to get to the airport but you are then faced with the high cost of car parking at airports.
