Perfect Greek Holidays on the island of Cyprus

Many people will want to start looking for their summer holiday for next year; even now people are hoping to snag an early bird deal on booking a flight and accommodation. By booking early tourists can get better options and rates with a greater choice of destinations than those looking for late deals.

When people are looking for somewhere to go for their holidays they want a fine balance of tourist friendly features such as beaches, restaurants and obviously plenty of hotels to choose from. As well as this they don’t want too many touristy aspects, overcrowded beaches and endless British Pub/Restaurants can be a put off for many holidaymakers looking for a taste of the exotic, not a taste of home.

Cyprus is an ideal destination despite being slightly further away than other Spanish and Greek Island holidays, yet still not as far as Turkey or Egypt. Cyprus has long been a British favourite and with its multi-cultural society (The Island is half Greek, Half Turkish) and whilst the two halves have had their differences in the past it remains entirely safe for travelling to.

The majority of tourists will visit the Greek Southern section of the island; the Greek section is roughly 60% of the island so there are plenty of different locations to visit with the southern coastal region being the most popular with its many beaches and resort hotels. Cyprus is well known as a British holiday hotspot so you are going to get a warm welcome by the locals and especially restaurants where the adventurous diner will have any local dishes explained to them by helpful waiters.

Cyprus has a long history and being a part of the Greek islands it obviously has much of the architecture of the Ancient Greeks and even Roman Empire. There are many archaeological sites that you can visit as well as museums showcasing the artefacts found at these sites. The capital of Nicosia is a wonderfully well preserved walled city with the Venetian walls surrounding bars, restaurants and the famous “green line”. The Green Line is the division that separates the Turkish part of Nicosia from the Greek section – A stark reminder of the two distinct sides to Cyprus.

A rare activity to do on a Mediterranean holiday is skiing, in Cyrus you can take a trip to the Troodos Mountains in winter where there’s now a ski resort being developed. So there’s plenty of variety for even the most jaded Mediterranean tourist and being much closer to the equator you’re bound to have excellent weather and plenty of summer holiday heat with holidays in Cyprus.
